  5. Due to the problems with extended 
  6. wear of hydrogel lenses, which were 
  7. thought to be due to dirty lenses and 
  8. in some cases are, the concept of 
  9. disposable lenses was introduced.  The 
  10. strict definition of disposable lenses 
  11. is that the lenses are worn once and 
  12. thrown away.

  14. The first disposable lenses were 
  15. intented to be worn for one week of 
  16. extended wear and thrown away.  A 
  17. new lens was put on the next day and 
  18. it was worn for a week.  No solutions or 
  19.  cleaning were required.
